Extended Reality for Employee Training

There are three main types of Extended Reality (XR) technologies:
  • virtual reality (VR) is the immersion in a digital environment
  • augmented reality (AR) is the projection of virtual objects onto the real environment
  • and mixed reality (MR) is the projection of virtual objects onto the real environment with the ability to interact with them

XR’s main application in employee training is simulating real working environments. XR is already being applied in multiple industries for employee training, e.g. in aerospace, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, real-estate, tourism, fast-food, and others. Examples include KFC's virtual reality employee training experience that teaches KFC cooks how to make fried chicken and Walmart’s virtual Black Friday simulations.

It seems that XR has much to offer to complement and enrich employee training.
